At The Cross Stitch Project, our mission is simple: use new media technology to build connections between teen girls in the United States and developing nations. Through these connections, teen girls share personal video accounts of their lives and experiences, and are invited to participate in arts and crafts projects that raise funds for secondary education for girls. The programs allow the young women to share creative and design talents, learn global enterprise and develop cross-cultural communication skills.
By uniting young women across cultures, The Cross Stitch Project hopes to foster a sense of accomplishment and independence for socially, politically and economically marginalized young women in developing nations.
