We are currently working with a group of girls age 12-20 in Kolkata, India.  Through The Cross Stitch Project, these young women have the opportunity to:

  • Experience first-hand cultural studies education through the arts
  • Receive technology skills training through media workshops and computer skills training
  • Learn advanced handicraft training and entrepreneurial skills to generate a living income
  • Connect via private social network with young women in the U.S.

In the U.S.  we are working with 9-12 grade girls in after-school programs. We have partnered with Grady High School, One Love Generation and the Atlanta Girls School in our pilot workshops.  Through The Cross Stitch Project, these young women have the opportunity to:

  • Communicate globally in writing, photographs and videography
  • Learn advanced design, media and art techniques from professional women artists and media-makers
  • Engage in service learning and experience first-hand cultural studies education through the arts
  • Raise funds for grassroots social change through social entrepreneurial projects
  • Connect via private social network with young women in India
